Autism twice as likely to develop from Zoloft use during pregnancy

Posted on November 18th, 2011 No Comments

A new study has been released that shows a strong connection between children born with autism and women who were taking Zoloft during their pregnancy.

The study, which was published in Archives of General Psychiatry, shows that Zoloft use during pregnancy doubled the chances of the child developing autism spectrum disorder. The side effects of the anti-depressant can be passed on to the fetus, one of them being neonatal serotonin syndrome.

Over 1,800 medical records of children were evaluated and that is where the connection was discovered. The study suggests numerous ways to naturally medicate depression so as to avoid severe side effects and complicated childbirths.

If you were taking Zoloft during pregnancy and your child was born with a birth defect, please contact the Zoloft lawsuit attorneys of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-641-9810 today.
