No class-action lawsuit for Zoloft birth defects yet

Posted on September 8th, 2011 No Comments

Although thousands of families have filed lawsuits regarding birth defects stemming from women using Zoloft during pregnancy, there is still no class-action lawsuit.

Research has linked the antidepressant drug Zoloft to birth defects for years now, but many are still unaware of its possible effects. When women take Zoloft or another Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant drug during their pregnancy, the same drug that can increase their mood level can also disrupt early stages of development in a fetus.

Birth defects that have been linked to the use of Zoloft during pregnancy include heart defects, brain and spinal defects, club foot, and lung conditions among others. Since there is no class-action lawsuit covering these side effects at this time, each case must be handled individually.

If your use of Zoloft while pregant has resulted in your child suffering from a birth defect, please contact the Zoloft birth defect lawsuit attorneys of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-641-9810 today.
