Ohio family files heart defect lawsuit against Zoloft makers

Posted on June 27th, 2012 No Comments

Parents from Ohio have recently filed a lawsuit against the makers of Zoloft after their child was born with multiple congenital heart defects including atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, and a mitral valve defect.

The mother gave birth in Michigan in November 2005 after the woman was prescribed Zoloft during pregnancy without being warned of the increased risk factors.

The child has had to undergo multiple surgeries since his birth, including an open heart surgery when he was just nine days old. When the child was five years old, he had two more open heart surgeries. One procedure was done to implant a heart catheter and the second was done to repair leakage that occurred as a result of one defect.
