Zoloft lawsuit filed after man commits suicide

Posted on May 1st, 2012 No Comments

Over a year after a mistrial occurred, the lawsuit filed against those who prescribed Zoloft to a man, who later committed suicide will see its time in court.

According to officials involved in the case, the man was prescribed the antidepressant Zoloft, manufactured by Pfizer, in order to treat insomnia.

He was the general manager of an Orlando Embassy Suites and was recently transferred to a new hotel in Washington D.C. when he committed suicide on May 24, 2005.

The original trial was deemed a mistrial when the court ruled that the defense showed the jury unfair evidence. A judge later wrote that the defendants wrongly prescribed the man Zoloft to treat insomnia.

Zoloft has also been in court for its link to the development of birth defects when taken during pregnancy. If this has happened to you or a loved one, contact the Zoloft attorneys of Williams Kherkher today by calling 800-641-9810 and discussing your legal options.
