Antidepressant use may be linked to heart disease

Posted on March 27th, 2012 No Comments

The use of antidepressants may be linked to the development of heart disease according to a new study that was done in New Orleans.

Antidepressant use is already linked to the risk developing birth defects if taken during pregnancy and this new study shows that the use may also increase the risk of heart disease.

According to the Center of Disease  Control, nearly one of every 10 American adults report some type of depression. The study done on 513 veterans shows that that those who used antidepressants have a greater carotid intima-media that is five percent thicker than the men who were not using drugs.

Many women have reported that the use of SSRI antidepressants such as Zoloft are linked to the development of birth defects when taken during pregnancy. Contact the Zoloft lawyers of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-641-9810  if this has happened to
