Scientists find parasite linked to birth defects

Posted on April 17th, 2012 No Comments

Scientists have recently discovered that a somewhat common parasite that is found in uncooked meat and cat faeces, Toxoplasma gondii parasite, has been linked to birth defects if ingested by pregnant women.

The Toxoplasma is common and nearly half of the world’s population has it at one time. It is usually undetected because the it has little to no symptoms unless a person is pregnant or a weakened immune system.

If  pregnant woman does ingest the parasite, it may lead to the development of brain and eye defects or may cause premature births and ever miscarriages.

Birth defects can seriously affect a child’s quality of life. If you or a loved one has taken a certain medication that caused your child to suffer a birth defect, you need representation on your side. Contact the Zoloft birth defect lawyers of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-641-9810 today.
